Grant: $500 from the Mary Joan Egan endowment

Christine Layden, BH-BL High School Art Department

“We are requesting funding for a long-term STEM project called ‘Augmented Reality Sandbox with Real-Time Water Flow Simulation.’ The goal of this project is two-fold. The first is to reinforce math and engineering concepts through the design and physical construction of an augmented reality sandbox. The second goal is to use the state-of-the-art technology to help Earth Science students learn how to interpret topographic maps and better understand stream erosion and landscape development.”

Grant: $2,199

Tracy Clark, Kelly Farnum, Kathy Kindl, Mindi Modiano, Alison Noakes, and Tim Sinnenberg, Charlton Heights Elementary

“We propose to provide a multi-sensory experience room (MSE) that will allow students in the Charlton Heights Elementary School (CHES) with the opportunity to relax, interact, and promote increased engagement in the learning environment. MSE rooms are evidence-based environments for students with a variety of needs.”
