Opening doorways of opportunity

Grants: Fall 2006

Charlie Smith, March 12, 2017March 13, 2017

Regina Reals, BH-BL High School Science Department

The funds will purchase a set of handheld remote systems for the EduGame! Interactive Classroom system. The remotes allow students to participate in a Jeopardy-style review session. Questions are aligned with the NYS Learning Standards and the teacher can edit questions. The school district already has licenses for the databases but due to costs the Science Department has been unable to purchase the remote. Hundreds of students will benefit from this equipment.

Grant: $1,724

Chris Lombardi and Carol Hobday, Drama Club & Stage Crew

This grant is for the purchase of a computer configurable DMX controller and supporting accessories capable of manipulating theatrical special effects. This would expose students to innovative programs and is expected to be the industry standard for the foreseeable future. This is a self-funded organization and this purchase would greatly impact the production budget for shows.

Grant: $910

Bonnie O’Rourke and George Seymour, Elementary Schools

This grant request is for three automatic turning egg incubators for the three elementary schools to enhance the life science unit.

Grant: $814

Andrew McGrath, Peter North, Don Germaine, Ed Hanlon, Geoffrey Leggieri, and Officer Walter Sparks, O’Rourke Middle School Team Building Course

The money will be used to help build an outdoor team building/low impact course to be used by the students, staff and athletic teams. Technology classes will be involved in the actual design and staff/community members will be involved in the construction.

Grant: $3,625

Kim Ferrie, Pashley Wellness Committee

The Foundation is funding money for a speaker on a building-wide “Wellness Day” in April 2007.
